Heilbronn Institute of Mathematical Research (HIMR) statement regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

HIMR has issued the following advice relating to COVID-19 (Coronavirus):

GRANTS/FUNDING

Where events funded by grants from HIMR are cancelled because of the Coronavirus situation, grant-holders or event organisers should:

1. Postpone or re-schedule events, if at all possible.

2. If you are planning to postpone or re-schedule, then please inform us of your intended dates, for approval. The Heilbronn Institute cannot automatically transfer funding past 31st March 2021, because that falls in a different budgetary year; you will need to reapply if you wish to do this. We aim to be as flexible as possible in this regard.

3. We expect people to seek, wherever possible, to recover travel and accommodation costs from their insurance, credit cards, or their home departments.

4. In exceptional circumstances, where people’s insurance, credit card, or home departments cannot help, then we would be open to a formal request by grant-holders or event organisers to cover necessary costs, but we cannot guarantee to do this and it should be seen as a last resort. Formal requests will be decided on a case-by-case basis by the Institute.

HIMR recognises that many organisations will have their own policies in place, which may vary from our own and each other. The Institute is willing to take as pragmatic and flexible an approach as possible.
