Dr Daniel Lawson – Maths and Vikings

07 Oct 2020, by Lowri Jamieson in News

Congratulations to previous Heilbronn Fellow Dr Daniel Lawson, on his paper Population genomics of the Viking world published in Nature on 16th September.

This six-year research project debunks the modern image of Vikings as a genetically pure group with blonde hair. As reported in the UOB press release, Lawson “played a pivotal role in [this] international research”.

Daniel is now Senior Lecturer in the Bristol School of Mathematics. You can hear him in interview with Claire Cavanagh on BBC Radio Bristol.
