Today is International Women In Mathematics Day.  12 May was chosen in memory of Maryam Mirzakhani who was born on 12 May 1977.

Virtual and local events will be held around the world celebrating women in mathematics.

The Heilbronn Institute is delighted to be supporting ‘Words of Women in Mathematics in the Time of Corona‘, a film presenting words and images of women in mathematics, sharing their experiences during the pandemic.  This pandemic has indeed made women, and in particular women in mathematics, more invisible than ever and we hope that this project will contribute to letting them be heard and seen.  Watch the film here

This project emanated from a group of mathematicians following informal conversations about their experience during the pandemic. It is a follow-up of the film project “Faces of Women in Mathematics”.  Watch the film here
