Dennis Sullivan Awarded the 2022 Abel Prize

Congratulations to Dennis Sullivan, Stony Brook University, USA, and the Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York, USA on receiving the 2022 Abel Prize for his groundbreaking contributions to topology in its broadest sense, and in particular its algebraic, geometric and dynamical aspects.  


Dennis Sullivan is an American mathematician who has made fundamental contributions to many branches of mathematics, including homotopy theory, dynamical systems, Kleinian groups, and low dimensional topology. The scope of his ideas and influence have been truly remarkable.


Named after Niels Henrik Abel, the Abel Prize recognises extraordinary contributions to the field of mathematics and is awarded by the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.  The Abel Prize will be presented to Dennis Sullivan at the award ceremony in Oslo on 24 May 2022
