Houses of Parliament, London, UK

The Heilbronn Institute is very proud to be supporting STEM for Britain exhibition this year. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) for Britain is a major scientific poster competition and exhibition that aims to encourage, support and promote Britain’s early-stage and early-career research mathematicians who are an essential part of continuing progress in and development of UK research and R&D. STEM for Britain has been held in Parliament since 1997, and is organised by the Parliamentary & Scientific Committee. Chaired by Stephen Metcalfe MP, its aim is to give members of both Houses of Parliament an insight into the outstanding research work being undertaken in UK universities by early-career researchers.

The competition is judged by professional and academic experts. All presenters are entered into either the engineering, the biological and biomedical sciences, the physical sciences, the physical sciences session, or the mathematics session, depending on the researcher’s specialism. Each session will result in the award of Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates. There will also be an overall winner from the four sessions who will receive the Westminster Wharton Medal.
