Congratulations to Kieran Calvert who has been offered a lectureship position at the University of Lancaster starting in the new academic year.

Kieran joined the Department of Mathematics in Manchester as a Heilbronn Fellow in 2019 after obtaining his PhD from Oxford under the supervision of Dan Ciubotaru.  Kieran’s research focusses on algebraic representation theory.   He specialises in the duality between different algebraic structures related to Lie groups, specifically Schur-Weyl duality, Howe duality and generalisations.  Kieran has published a number of papers recently, including in SIGMA [doi.org] and in Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra [doi.org] His paper in  Advances in Mathematics [doi.org] generalises Schur-Weyl duality to real Lie groups and (g,K) modules and proves that there is a correspondence between principal series.

We wish Kieran every success in his new position!
