Congratulations to Luke Jeffreys02 Oct 2023, by News in
Congratulations to Luke Jeffreys who has been offered a postdoctoral position at the University of Wisconsin – Madison (as a Van Vleck Visiting Assistant Professor) starting in the new academic year. We are very pleased to be welcoming Luke back to Bristol in May next year as a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow. The Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship is a highly prestigious, fiercely competitive award. It provides career development opportunities for researchers who are at a relatively early stage of their academic careers but who have a proven record of research.
Luke joined the Heilbronn Institute in 2020 after obtaining his PhD from the University of Glasgow under the supervision of Vaibhav Gadre and Tara Brendle. His research interests lie in the intersection of geometry, topology, group theory and dynamics. Specifically, his work focusses on the areas of Teichmüller theory, mapping class groups, hyperbolic geometry, and more recently the Lagrange and Markov spectra. On the latter, Luke’s research paper with Carlos Matheus and Carlos Gustavo Moreira ‘New gaps on the Lagrange and Markov spectra‘ has recently been accepted by the Journal de Théorie des Nombres de Bordeaux.
We wish Luke every success in his new position and future research.
