Congratulations to Josh Jackson
16 Sep 2024, by News inCongratulations to Josh Jackson, Heilbronn Fellow, who has been offered a 5-year position as College Associate Lecturer and Fellow of St John’s College, Cambridge starting this Autumn.
Joshua got his PhD in Oxford under the supervision of Frances Kirwan, where he was later a postdoc. He was then a Heilbronn Fellow at Imperial College London, before moving to Sheffield in 2022. His research is in algebraic geometry, specifically in moduli (classification) questions. The centre of his research is building geometric spaces that classify algebro-geometric objects. These are called moduli spaces. The main tool he uses to do this is something called Non-reductive Geometric Invariant Theory (NRGIT).
Josh’s recent paper ‘Quotients by Parabolic Groups and Moduli Spaces of Unstable Objects‘ with Victoria Hoskins (Radboud) has recently been published in the Journal of Algebra.
We wish Josh every success in his new position and future research!
